homegrown garden and wild flowers for weddings in Cheshire

Tried photographing this in dim evening light. Not really intentional, but I quite like the grainy texture, feels a bit wintery and hazy. Like a memory?
Hellebores are really showing off now. Almost ready to start cutting. It may be a bit of a false spring here in UK, but I, for one, am loving it. Hope you get to enjoy some gorgeous spring sunshine today. I’ve got quite a few meetings today - wonder if we might be sitting outside amongst the hellebores?
Photo by @herbert.flowers who doesn’t mind getting her knees dirty in pursuit of the right photo 😉
50 shades of grey this morning?
Happy Valentine’s Day! 🤣
Barbara has worked alongside me for a few years now. This was yesterday, our first big outdoor day of the year, clearing beds and planting the last batch of ranunculus. We were both very happy to be outside again and suspect we aren’t the only ones glad to be getting back to early spring work schedules. I know it’s technically winter, but we work to the weather rather than the calendar. And we’ll be doing the the same today... Photo by the lovely Julie @herbert.flowers
Seed sowing. We’re all getting ready. Seeds ordered. Sowing plans done. The delicious process of organising the packets into what to sow first.... Now to decide whether to sow in pots, trays, modules, blocks, on heat or not. It’s sooo exciting but there are so many things to think about that it can be quite overwhelming. And what about the dahlias, chrysanths, all those perennials stretching their arms in the beds outside? We can be dividing, taking cuttings now. So we’ve done a whole module on Propagation in the Business Of Growing Flowers course. It starts today. You can sign up for just this module during this week only, or for the whole programme of 10 modules before March. Website link in profile.
Late winter sunshine setting the hellebores alive. Playing havoc with the colour in the photo, and teasing me with the energy and joy of spring.
Not the most glamorous flowers, but one of my favourite corners of the field at the moment. The scent of the Sarcococca is so lovely, I find myself making detours to breathe it in.
At the @flowersfromthefarm conference on Monday, @Thomasbloomflowers top tip for growers is to grow it, and some of us already do. But not in London! This is destined for Valentine’s bouquets for some lucky people in Manchester.
All my lovely home grown spring flowers, beautifully arranged by Jo @fletcherfoley and photographed by the very talented @jobradburyphotography Spring is definitely in the air!

Fantastic, enthusiastic germination from my own saved Tweedia seed. Up and ready to prick out in 3 weeks. Bought seed can often have slow or irregular germination. And it’s a straight species, not a hybrid, so it will come true to type. Gorgeous, sky blue stars to go in lots of bouquets this summer?
